Low-temperature material toughness, foundation and shell erection tolerances, platform/stairway design loads, welding preheat and impact rules, and hydrotest/pneumatic test pressures
◉ IS 803-1976 (REAFFIRMED 2006), §4, §7.7, §9, §10, §12 · NOT A REGULATORY SUBMISSION TOOL
⚠ Indicative tool only. Source: IS 803-1976 (Edition 2.1, incorporating Amendment No. 1), reaffirmed 2006, read from its own text. This is the design code Tank Protocol's other IS 803 tools already use (shell, roof, alternate shell, vent, floating roof); this tool covers the sections those don't: materials/toughness (§4), platform and stairway loads (§7.7), erection tolerances (§9), site welding (§10), and test pressures (§12). It does not cover radiographic weld acceptance (§11) — that is a separate, more involved tool given the volume of numeric criteria there. IS 803 itself references older material and welding standards (IS 226, IS 814, IS 823, etc.) by their editions currently in force in 1976; confirm current editions separately.

1. Low-Temperature Material Toughness (§4.1.3, §4.1.4)
§4.1.3: no impact testing required above 10°C. §4.1.4: for −20°C to +10°C, materials other than IS 226 need each plate-as-rolled impact tested at DMT, average of 3 full-size Charpy V-notch ≥ 39 N·m (longitudinal) or 25 N·m (transverse). IS 803 does not state a route below −20°C; this tool flags that rather than guessing one.
2. Foundation Levelness (§9.1.3)
3. Shell Erection Tolerances (§9.3.5, §9.3.6)
4. Floating Roof Erection Tolerances (§9.4)
5. Platforms, Gangways & Stairways (§7.7)
Design loads (both platforms and stairways): 4412 N (450 kgf) moving concentrated load on the floor/tread; handrail structure capable of withstanding 882 N (90 kgf) applied at any point, any direction, on the top rail (not a field-measurable check — shown as a reminder).
6. Site Welding – Preheat & Low-Temperature Impact (§10.3, §10.6.7)
